Altar Guild

Bethel Lutheran Church decorated for
the Easter Season.

The Altar Guild is the organization that prepares the chancel area for worship. We decorate the sanctuary for each of the church seasons and prepare for weddings, baptisms and funerals.. The Altar Guild orders flowers, arranges everything for communion, cares for the Altar linens and candles. We purchase candle oil, wine, palms, and any decorations needed for the Sanctuary. The Altar Guild is in charge of the Memorial Fund which is used to purchase many items for the new church. The Altar Guild meets the 1st Sunday of each the month following the worship service.

To receive a copy of The EnLightener, please contact the Church Office (632-2316) or email .

Faithful Flock /Youth (grades 6-12)
Faithful Flock is in the process of being revitalized.

Cradle Roll keeps track of newly baptized members, presenting them with congregational gifts at their baptism. The newly-baptized (up to 3 years old) receive additional literature in the mail until their 3rd birthday. Non-members who are baptized also receive gifts that have been donated to Bethel for baptisms.

Confirmation Class meets September through May at 6:30pm on Wednesday evenings. Contact the church office for further information.

Food Shelf/Soul Patch Garden
Bethel sponsors a Food Shelf on our property which is open Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 10 AM-noon, and Thursdays from 6-8 PM. In the summer a community garden is planted on site called Soul Patch.

Lutefisk & Meatball Dinner
Lutefisk & Meatball Dinner is an annual tradition here at Bethel held on the 1st Tuesday in December. Our good friends at First Lutheran Church work with us on this wonderful fun event.

Meals on Wheels
One of Bethel's great outreach ministries is Meals on Wheels. We take our turn about every three months. Volunteers to deliver meals are always welcome!

Men in Mission
Men in Mission (MiM) sponsor 2 miles of highway ditch cleaning along County Road 238. They also contribute to various charitable efforts, such as tuition costs at Luther Seminary, the quilting program, mission support, and provided camperships for youth at Camp Onomia.

MiM also takes care of landscaping and general upkeep around the church building as well as paying for numerous small items for maintenance of the property and grounds.

  • Meets 7 PM 2nd Tuesday of the month
  • 2nd Sunday of the month: Serves Breakfast after Sunday Service

MS Support Group
This area support group meets the 1st Wednesday of each month.

Quilters
The Quilters make quilts that are sent to Lutheran World Relief as well as local non-profit organizations, camps, and persons in need. All are welcome to join—you don't have to know how to sew! They meet the 3rd Friday of each month.

Rummage Sales
Our famous Rummage Sales, benefiting Lutheran Social Services, are held each Spring and Fall, and have become a very popular event here at Bethel. Our good friends at First Lutheran Church work with us on this wonderful and fun benefit event.

Sunday School
The children are taught in a multi-age group setting, which is very successful. The children enjoy a lesson each Sunday along with singing songs and making crafts. Certificates of participation are handed out to each child at the end of each Sunday School year (May).

Vacation Bible School is part of Bethel's outreach to children from Bethel and beyond.

Programs are periodically performed by the children for the congregation, including a Christmas program and/or concert.

Volunteers to teach or assist the teachers are very welcome!
